Maryna Gradnova is an internationally experienced Costume Designer and socially engaged visual artist whose practice bridges craftsmanship, storytelling, and expressive ink-based art. She holds a Master’s degree in Costume Design from Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts (2005), where she established the technical precision and strong artistic foundation that continue to define her work. In 2024, she graduated from Sorbonne University with a degree in French as a Foreign Language and French Literature, enriching her practice with cultural and literary depth.

Over the past two decades, Maryna has designed costumes for film, television, theatre, and opera productions internationally. Her designs are recognised for their authenticity, emotional intelligence, and powerful visual identity. With a deep understanding of character psychology and narrative context, she creates costumes that do more than dress performers — they embody story, movement, and inner transformation.

Alongside her work in costume design, Maryna is an independent artist known for her distinctive ink-based style, Fieriness, which explores movement, impermanence, emotional intensity, and the relationship between humans and the natural world. Her artwork often engages with themes of water, whales, ecological consciousness, and non-anthropocentric perspectives, positioning her practice within urgent contemporary environmental dialogue.

Maryna’s practice is deeply socially engaged. She develops participatory projects, workshops, and community-led initiatives that invite diverse audiences into collaborative creation. Working across intergenerational groups, cultural communities, and public contexts, she uses drawing, storytelling, and collective making as tools for empowerment and dialogue. Her approach centres inclusivity, shared authorship, and creative access, ensuring that art becomes a space for connection rather than exclusion.

As a full member of BAFTA and BECTU, Maryna remains committed to professional excellence while expanding the boundaries of what costume and visual art can achieve socially and environmentally.
